‘Have courage to evangelize’ Bishop Libena urge laity.

By Pascal Mwanache

A call has been made to lay Catholics in the country to go out and serve the Church by recognizing   their call to announce Christ wherever.

Speaking during the prayer that preceded inauguration of the construction of a new building facility at the Isdori Bakanja Laity Center in Dar es Salaam, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ifakara Rt. Rev Salutaris Libena said that the true missionary apostolate of lay people involves building a place for their permanent residence in the country, for them to meet and discuss how to bring Christ to the people.

“The laity is a very large group; this big group needs a place for homage. This is our office and home. Here’s where all Tanzanians will meet to discuss how to send the good news,” Bishop Libena said.

The Chairman of the Construction committee, Mr Richard Sillo has called on the Laity leaders in all dioceses and parishes to encourage every lay person to contribute amount of two hundred Tanzania shillings(200), thus enabling the construction.

“If every baptized contributes just two hundred Tanzania shillings (200), we will get enough money to build this facility and other more. This building will cost around Tshs 500 millions,” He said.

The Construction of the second building at Isdori Bakanja’s laity Center is expected to begin soon, the facility will be used for seminars and retreat while the construction is expected to be carried out depending on the contributions from lay men and women in the country.
